Position: Neonatal Coordinator / RN / Registered Nurse / NICU / FT / Days

POSITION SUMMARY: The Coordinator - Neonatal is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of the department specific and for the ongoing assessment and improvement of the activities.  Coordinator – Neonatal is a registered nurse with neonatal/perinatal experience. Coordinator - Neonatal will be a clinically active registered nurse participating in patient care at the facility.

PROVISION OF SERVICES/CARE STANDARDS

  • Demonstrates leadership in the provision of departmental services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services throughout NWTHS.
  • Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess and improve performance of management, clinical, and/or support services in conjunction with The Join Commission and Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • Assure implementation and evaluation of program initiatives and projects.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance as related to Joint Commission, DSHS and the Board of Nurse Examiners

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

  • Must have 2+ years of NICU experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
  • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s).
  • BLS from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment
  • Current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
  • De-escalation training within 90 days of hire; does not require maintaining
  • Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit:

  • NRP within 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment
  • STABLE within 12 months of hire; repeat renewal class every 2 years until 10 years’ experience.
  • Class may be taken anytime within the year of expiration.
  • 90% score on neonatal medication exam – employees will have two chances to pass with remediation material available

L&D:

  • NRP within 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Intermediate fetal monitoring (AWHONN) at first available class after hire and must maintain throughout employment.
  • Advanced fetal monitoring (AWHONN) preferred.
  • HROB – Advanced fetal monitoring (AWHONN) required and must maintain while active on the HROB team.
