Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist to join our team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures based on physician and nursing documentation during patient encounters. Your expertise will help us achieve optimal reimbursement by adhering to the latest coding methodologies, including CPT-4, HCPCS, and applicable modifiers.

Key Responsibilities:

Assign appropriate codes for all diagnoses and procedures from patient encounters, ensuring alignment with current coding standards.
Abstract and input essential data into our computerized database to maintain accurate records.
Convert patient visits and encounters into the correct APC (Ambulatory Patient Classification) assignments to facilitate accurate billing.
Qualifications:

Current certification in at least one of the following:

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Certified Coding Specialist-Professional (CCS-P)
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient (CPC-H)
A minimum of 12 months of full-time coding experience in an acute care setting.

Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 PCS, and CPT-4 coding conventions.

Familiarity with the EPIC system is a plus.

Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
