Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position is the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program Coordinator and reports to the Operations & Management Consultant Manager. Incumbent is responsible for the completion, review, and oversight of monthly reports, budget and is actively involved in providing education and activities in the community and in a school setting for middle and high school aged students. The incumbent will exhibit an attitude of friendliness and customer service towards all clients, including youth, parents/guardians and community members as well as act respectfully and courteously to fellow employees. The individual will be required to use discretion in managing confidential informaton and is responsible for the data sets under his/her control. Incumbent uses knowledge of quality improvement (QI) methods and processes to work with other staff to help identify opportunities for improvement and develop a culture of quality within DOH Wakulla; assists in improvement projects, as assigned.

 

Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program Coordinator, Positive Youth Development (PYD) and Promoting Activities:

• Completes monthly reports and monthly budget review and monitoring throughout the grant year.

• Makes decisions on how to spend funding for use of community events, supplies, activities, and promotional items. Follows department and state guidelines for purchase of items and services using MFMP and P-Card functions.

• Independently plans, coordinates and facilitates an evidence-based sexual risk avoidance education (SRAE) curriculum and promotes activities targeting middle and high school youth, their parents, guardians, and significant adults.

• Independently plans, promotes and coordinates activities for youth, parents, guardians and significant adults in community settings in accordance with the project work plan.

• Plans, facilitates and participates in community events and presentations promoting the SRAE message, which includes positive choices for youth.

• Participates in DOH, SRAE and other trainings and conferences including but not limited to those offered through various community entities which includes but is not limited to Wakulla County Schools, Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Wakulla County Coalition for Youth, MADD, as well as other trainings and conferences deemed necessary by Program office and/or Program Director. These trainings, meetings, presentations and conferences are required to develop and improve SRAE and promoting activities.

• Independently prepares and oversees SRAE necessary equipment, training aids/props, classroom management tools, and actual classrooms for SRAE and promoting activities, to so as hold true to the fidelity of the approved curriculum being implemented, with the most recent platform of virtual classes.

• Designs, coordinates and delivers informational and educational workshops/presentations that are defined as a need in the schools and/or community with a focus on positive youth development, the SRAE message and/or any other related topic associated with the SRAE program.

• Responsible for executing special initiatives and projects pertaining to SRAE and PYD. Works with and assigns other SRAE program staff to provide SRAE activities in schools and the community.

• Develops and maintains working relationships with community partners, community organizations/businesses, and governmental agencies in order to promote the SRA message.

• Responsible for and assists with the ANCHOR program offered through the juvenile delinquency court order with an educational approach to teaching teens critical life skills, self-empowerment and the physical and emotional consequences of risky behaviors.

 

Administrative:

• Responsible for organizing and maintaining inventories of educational material, incentives, and community event materials, including SRA brochure displays in community businesses and schools.

• Responsible for assuring the completion of student interaction report forms, sign-in sheets, pre and post tests and facilitator evaluations within established time frames after the completion of such activity, lesson or event. Responsible for accurately entering classroom and community data into Excel.

• Provides detailed, accurate documentation and information for reporting purposes including but not limited to monthly reports, program office’s site visit/audit, public records requests as requested by the Community Health Program Manager .

• Responsible for reiveiwng input on recommendations and/or revisions to the SRAE program design and classroom management tools including input and feedback on lesson materials and activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Public speaking and teaching skills.
  • Knowledge of national, state and global trends and strategies in health education and promotion; assessment and program evaluation skills, methodology & statistical analysis experience, coalition-building skills.
  • IT skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of health promotion and public health education.
  • Knowledge of the principle and practices of community-based health promotion planning.
  • Ability to plan, develop and deliver health promotion and public health education services.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum - Valid Florida Driver's License, Ability to work some nights and weekends for community events, Ability to speak comfortably in a group setting

Preferred - Experience educating youth and adults, Experience with public speaking to a variety of audiences, experience maintaining a budget and expenditures, Experience using Word, Powerpoint and Excel
