As the Chief Financial Officer at Ute Mountain Casino Hotel, this role is crucial in directing all financial operations for the casino and its associated venues, embodying the intersection of financial acumen and strategic oversight. With responsibilities spanning financial planning, accounting practices, and ensuring procedural integrity, the CFO plays a vital role in maintaining robust relationships with banking and lending institutions, Tribal authorities, and the broader financial community. The position demands rigorous adherence to GAAP, Ute Mountain Ute Gaming Commission regulatory requirements, Federal and State regulations, and related Compact and Minimum Internal Control Standards. The CFO oversees an extensive portfolio, including Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, Receiving, Revenue Audit, Cage & Vault, and Payroll, ensuring these areas not only comply with laws and standards but also contribute to the strategic and financial objectives of the organization.
The objective of the CFO position is to champion the integrity and efficiency of financial operations, aligning them with the casino’s strategic goals. entails crafting and executing financial strategies that optimize resource allocation, enhance financial performance, and foster sustainable growth. By leveraging financial technologies and data analytics, the CFO will ensure the casino's financial systems are robust and capable of supporting dynamic market challenges. The role is pivotal in promoting transparency, enhancing stakeholder relationships, and leading a culture of excellence within the finance & accounting team. Through strategic leadership, the CFO is committed to advancing the casino’s mission while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance and fiscal stewardship, ensuring the casino's operations enhance its economic impact and cultural heritage.

Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Financial Planning: Alongside the General Manager, lead the development and execution of the annual financial plan, ensuring alignment with the casino's strategic goals. Collaborate with senior management to integrate financial strategies with operational objectives. Oversee capital investment planning, revenue forecasting, budget development, and financial modeling.
Financial Oversight and Performance Enhancement: Evaluate and refine financial processes and systems to optimize performance. Implement revenue enhancement and cost reduction strategies. Assess the financial performance of initiatives, ensuring alignment with ROI criteria. Lead financial analysis projects to enhance guest relations and loyalty programs. Engage with and execute financial directives produced by the General Manager.
Financial Technology and Data Analytics: Employ advanced financial technology platforms and data analytics to inform strategic decisions and improve operations. Mastery of financial systems such as Microsoft GP, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent is essential. Leverage data-driven insights to anticipate market changes and adapt strategies accordingly.
Brand Value and Fiscal Responsibility: Promote the casino’s commitment to maintaining a strong brand image through fiscal activities. Engage in community relations and consider local economic impacts in financial decisions. Develop strategies to enhance the casino's economic presence and explore partnership opportunities.
Leadership and Financial Team Management: Exhibit exceptional leadership, guiding the finance and accounting team towards achieving the casino's financial goals. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence. Ensure alignment with financial objectives and high standards of integrity and professionalism.
Oversee Day-to-Day Accounting Functions: Manage the monthly close of the general ledger, review of financial statements, and reconciliation of accounts. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Direct revenue and cash management, audit, payroll, and other financial operations.
Data-Driven Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analyses using data analytics to project and review performance. Evaluate the effectiveness of financial operations, informing operational and service enhancements.
Performance Management and Improvement: Monitor and enhance the finance department's performance. Identify gaps and implement training programs for continuous improvement. Prepare and present detailed financial reports and projections to management. Engage in people management strategies to ensure the element of high human performance is also addressed.
Regulatory Expertise and Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations, particularly those relevant to the gaming industry. Ensure compliance with state and tribal gaming regulations, developing secure measures to protect financial integrity and customer data.
Collaborative Leadership: Actively participate in the executive management team, contributing financial insights to broader business strategies. Ensure decisions support the long-term sustainability of the casino.
Personnel Management: Direct staff hiring, termination, promotion, demotion, transfer, work assignments, department-specific orientation, training and development, and staffing requirements, and promptly address and resolve employee issues and complaints. Review and/or initiate corrective/disciplinary actions in accordance with HR policy as required. Provide fair and equitable treatment to all team members. Ensure staff have a clear understanding of requirements and expectations; train and mentor as necessary to produce an effective and cohesive team.
Vendor and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary financial contact for vendors, building and maintaining strong relationships. Utilize partnerships to achieve financial efficiency and effective resource use.
Ute Mountain Casino Hotel (UMCH) is a tribal casino located in Towaoc, Colorado, just a 20 minute drive from Mesa Verde National Park. The property currently has 650 slots, 7 tables, 90 hotel rooms, 80 R.V. spaces, 2 travel centers, and a team-member population of 397.
